How Tixplorer got started
A dorm room, a self-taught coder, and a lot of cold emails.
Tixplorer started in my dorm room at the University of Wisconsin with an idea that wouldn't leave me alone: why was buying a ticket such a mess? Every marketplace showed a different price. Every one of them claimed the best deal. And the only way to actually know was to open five browser tabs and do the math yourself, hidden fees included.
I'm Cameron Roth. When I started on Tixplorer I didn't know how to code. I taught myself, starting from the basics. The first version of Tixplorer was rough — but it worked, and it answered the question I had been asking: where is this ticket actually cheapest, all-in?
The hard part wasn't the code. It was the partnerships. I cold-emailed my way in. A lot of them. Most got ignored. Some got a polite no. A few ended in a call, then a contract, then an integration. One by one, the marketplaces came on board.
Today Tixplorer compares live prices from TicketNetwork, Vivid Seats, Gametime, StubHub International, and Events365. All in one place. All with transparent fees. Click a ticket, and you go directly to the marketplace to buy — same guarantees, same experience, but you found the best deal in seconds.
We're still early, and there's a lot more we want to build. If you've got ideas — or just want to say hi — reach out at info@tixplorer.com.
